Dylan & his body-boardThis year we celebrated Dylan’s birthday in Mozambique.  It was quite a low key affair so we promised to throw him a birthday party when we got back home.  To be honest I’m not too sure he was that bothered anyway.  His birthday present from Granny & Grandad Mac was an awesome “BZ Body-Board” and he played with it in the lagoon for hours.

Ali and Sonja made some caramel cupcakes with smarties as his birthday treat.  In the afternoon we took the boat out for the first time.  We crossed the lagoon and spent the rest of the day on the beach.

Mity GooseOnce we were back in Cape Town we gave Dylan his new bike the “Mity Goose” as his big present from us.  He loves the bike and immediately took it for a test ride around the pool.  It has a water bottle and a bell which comes in handy when we come up behind slow pokes in the forest.  The “Mity Goose” which I suppose stands for Mighty Goose is a 16 inch mongoose kiddies bike.  It is quite a bit bigger than the 12 inch bike that he has been using which makes it easier for him to keep up with us.

Uncle Mike was in town for the first half of our week back.  It was great to see him again.  Thanks again for making the effort to come and see us and for the time you spent with the boys.  I think you probably have two (Chelsea) fans for life.

We had Dylan’s party on the Saturday that we returned.  He wanted a car theme and so we organized a car cake and gigantic jumping castle.  Dylan invited his entire Starfish class and a few other friends too.  We were secretly hoping that a few people would not be able to make it but everyone accepted the invitation.  We had 24 friends and siblings and with their parents the total attendance was 50 people.  Once again we were lucky enough to have a sunny rainless winters day.  Well done to Ali for a well organized and catered party.  Thanks to everyone who came and made Dylan’s birthday such fun.  Enjoy the following gallery.
