A while ago I bought a family
Wild Card which allows us to gain entry to Cape Nature reserves. We haven’t used it much so on Sunday we decided to take the boys and dog for a walk on the Silvermine reserve. Dogs are allowed as long as they are under control.
We decided to keep things simple and do the 1 hour river walk from the bottom parking area. Half way up Warrick spotted a snake sunning itself on the path which Ali and Dylan had only just stepped over. It was probably lucky not to get squished.
Boris had a swim he wasn’t planning. He walked up to a pond that was so glassy and brown that it looked like a surface he could walk on. He promptly fell in and couldn’t see where to get out. I had to call him back to the weir or he would probably still be swimming in circles. He eventually figured out where the shallows were and went back in.
We walked as far as we thought the boys could manage, had a mini picnic and turned back. It was quite an eventful hike and everyone enjoyed being out.
