Dylan is now 2 years old. “It’s amazing how time flies, seems like only yesterday we took Ali to the Constantiaberg maternity ward.” The truth is it feels like quite a while ago and I see the evidence for that every morning when I look in the mirror.
How did the cute small helpless baby turn into the big, chunky, cheeky (but sweet) boy he is today. Dylan has hit most of his milestones early, he was walking at 10 and a 1/2 months, jumping at 15 and talking early too. If the old “wives tale” about toddlers doubling their height at 2 years old (91cm) is true then Dylan will be 6ft when he is fully grown. He’ll be the perfect height for a prop forward.
Dylan celebrated his 2nd birthday in style with an indoor Thomas the Tank Engine jumping
castle, a Thomas cake and a bunch of his buddies. With Dylan’s birthday in July we are always going to have to plan parties around the weather. This year we were lucky to find a jumping castle small enough to fit in the play room should it rain and rain it did. Some of the older children couldn’t believe there eyes when they walked down the passage and found a “bouncy house’ in the house!
As with all children’s parties there has to be a theme and a cake to suit the theme. This party was no different and Ali organized an awesome Thomas cake. Dylan had been practicing blowing out candles (matches) for the past month but got stage fright
when the moment came. I think the sparklers had him confused because he couldn’t blow them out so he didn’t bother with the candles.
The boys had a great time opening all of Dylan’s presents. I think Warrick really enjoyed Dylan’s birthday and probably appreciated it a bit more. In fact I’m not sure Dylan really knew what all the fuss was about.
Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated the day with us. A special thank you to Granny Mac for making the trip to Cape Town and spending the last couple of weeks with us. It is always a pleasure having her visit.
